About The Position

The Regulatory Affairs and Product Compliance Specialist is responsible for ensuring that all products comply with applicable food regulations and labeling requirements across designated markets. This role oversees regulatory submissions, product registrations, labeling compliance, and documentation management to support successful product launches and ongoing regulatory adherence.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all products meet regulatory requirements in target markets, including CFIA, USDA, and other relevant agencies.
  • Interpret and apply applicable food laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and update internal procedures to maintain ongoing compliance.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory documentation required for new product registrations through relevant agencies and platforms (e.g., USDA, IREP, CBSA, and client portals).
  • Verify that all ingredients, formulations, and processing methods for each SKU comply with regulatory requirements in the intended markets.
  • Coordinate and obtain all necessary regulatory approvals prior to product launch.
  • Utilize food labeling software (e.g., Genesis, FoodLabelMaker...) to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance of ingredient statements, Nutrition Facts Tables (NFTs), allergen declarations, and product claims.
  • Review and approve product labels and packaging artwork across all formats, including labels, printed film, sleeves, inners, and shipping cases.
  • Verify that all marketing and product claims are substantiated and compliant with applicable regulations and manufacturing practices (e.g., “Fire Grilled,” “Certified Humane,” “Hand Crafted”).
  • Ensure packaging language requirements are current and compliant for all applicable markets.
  • Generate shipping labels using labeling software (e.g., LabelView and LimiDraw).
  • Track and maintain records of regulatory submissions, approvals, and certifications (e.g., USDA, IREP, CBSA).
  • Monitor and document shelf-life studies for applicable products.
  • Maintain ingredient and spice specification folders to ensure all specifications are current and accurate.
  • Manage production specification records, ensuring current specifications are accessible while archiving outdated versions.
