The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the practice of legal advocacy in relation to issues of environmental law and justice. This is an experiential learning course in which students work under the supervision of clinical legal educators (lawyer-instructors) on environmental problems and cases, on behalf of community and environmental groups. The course is operated in partnership with Ecojustice, the country’s largest public interest environmental law organization. The clinical legal educators will provide opportunities for students to be directly involved in various aspects of providing environmental law services to community and non-profit groups, such as: researching potential cases, writing legal memoranda, developing legal strategy, drafting pleadings and other written documents, and assisting with law reform efforts, litigation and other legal matters.
