About The Position

The University of Ottawa is seeking a Regular Part-Time Professor for the course CLA2110 Archaeological Methods and Techniques during the Fall 2026 semester. This course provides a general and theoretical introduction to the different techniques employed in archaeology and their development, and explores the contribution of archaeology to our understanding of the ancient world. The course is taught in English and is scheduled for Mondays from 11:30 to 13:00 and Thursdays from 13:00 to 14:30. The expected enrollment is 60 students, and the course is worth 3 credits. The academic year runs from September 1 to August 31. The hourly rate for teaching is $239.47 (2024-2025), which does not include vacation or statutory pay. These rates are subject to change upon ratification of a new collective agreement, with retroactive pay provided after ratification. Requirements

  • M.A. in Classical Studies or equivalent.
  • An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.
  • Competence in a second language: N/A.
  • Successful completion of all mandatory legislated training.

Responsibilities

  • Teach CLA2110 Archaeological Methods and Techniques.
  • Provide a general and theoretical introduction to archaeological techniques and their development.
  • Explain the contribution of archaeology to the understanding of the ancient world.
  • Complete all mandatory legislated training as required by provincial law.
