About The Position
The Department of English within the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ottawa is seeking a Regular Part-Time Professor to teach ENG1120 ND00, Selected Topics in Literature and Composition, during the 2027 Winter Semester. This course focuses on developing critical reading skills and coherent discourse, with an emphasis on the proper use and acknowledgement of sources. Readings in multiple genres will be used for discussion and frequent written assignments. This course is not repeatable for credit and is not intended for English Majors or Honours students. The language of instruction is English.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in English.
- An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational requirement and/or demonstrated experience.
- Competence in the second language: N/A.

- Research expertise and publications in this area strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Teach ENG1120 ND00, Selected Topics in Literature and Composition.
- Develop and deliver course content focusing on critical reading, coherent discourse, and source citation.
- Facilitate discussions and provide feedback on frequent written assignments.
- Adhere to the course schedule, which is subject to change.
- Complete all mandatory legislated training as required by provincial law.
