About The Position
This position is for a Regular Part-Time Professor to teach Elementary German II (ALG1902 Section A) during the Winter 2027 semester at the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Arts, Department of Modern Languages and Literatures. The course focuses on basic German skills including conversation, reading, writing, grammar, and intercultural communication. It is the first part of a sequence preparing students for the Goethe Institute's Certificate of German. The course is to be taught in person.
Requirements
- Master's degree in German or equivalent.
- Recent experience in the teaching of Introductory German with computer assisted Language Learning (CALL) or equivalent.
- Familiarity with the most recent teaching methodologies in teaching German.
- Bilingual (French and English).
- Successful completion of all mandatory legislated training.

Responsibilities
- Teach Elementary German II (ALG1902 Section A)
- Develop and deliver course content focusing on basic skills in German, including listening comprehension, speaking, reading, writing, grammar, and cross-cultural awareness.
- Prepare students for the Goethe Institute's exam towards the Certificate of German.
- Utilize computer-assisted language learning (CALL) and recent teaching methodologies in teaching German.
- Engage in the hiring process governed by the current APTPUO collective agreements.
- Complete all mandatory legislated training as required by provincial law.
