About The Position
This position is for a Regular Part-Time Professor to teach Probability and Statistics for Engineers (STA2391 Section B00) during the 2027 Winter Semester in the Faculty of Science, Department of Mathematics and Statistics. The course covers combinatorial analysis, probability and random variables, discrete and continuous densities and distribution functions, expectation and variance, normal, binomial and Poisson distributions, statistical estimation and hypothesis testing, method of least squares, correlation and regression, with an emphasis on statistics and quality control methods for engineers. The expected enrollment is 180 students, and the course is worth 3 credits. The instructor must coordinate across all sections.
Requirements
- PhD in mathematics.
- Expert level knowledge of LaTeX (the universal mathematical editor).
- Must coordinate (across all sections).
- An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.
- Successful completion of all mandatory legislated training.
- All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority.
