The Registration Representative, also known as Patient Financial Specialist I, is responsible for ensuring the collection of accurate and complete registration/admission information and the completion of required forms for all patients. This role also involves collecting patient deductibles, co-pays, coinsurance, and deposits. The representative will gather and evaluate confidential patient financial data to determine qualification for financial assistance and patient financial responsibility. Additionally, they will collect payments, facilitate the resolution of billing questions, and serve as an information resource to other departments and physician offices. A key aspect of this role is understanding the relationship between diagnosis and procedure using CPT and ICD-9 coding to ensure compliance with third-party regulations, including Medicare and Medicaid. The representative must adhere to all pertinent legislation regarding the use and disclosure of medical and financial information, debt collection, and credit reporting. They will also establish payment arrangements for patients and evaluate past account history, all while upholding the department's Service vision.
