About The Position

A training position which requires enrollment in a Cancer Information Management Program with expected completion within 18 months of hire and attainment of CTR credentials. Demonstrates incremental understanding and competency in follow-up, casefinding, suspense, and abstracting. Demonstrates progressive competency in ICD-O coding, FORDS, Collaborative Staging, AJCC Staging, Multiple Primary & Histology Coding Rules, and Texas Cancer Registry and National Cancer Data Base reporting requirements. Demonstrates basic understanding of American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer Program Standards. Meets all internal and external training targets. Assists in the coordination of cancer conferences. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Enrollment in a Cancer Information Management Program with expected completion within 18 months of hire
• Attainment of CTR credentials within 18 months of hire or transfer
• Associate's Degree in Allied Health related field from an accredited school
• 1 year in Cancer Registry, Health Information Management or other Allied Health field
• Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook

Nice To Haves

• Graduate from an accredited school for Health Information Management
• 2 years of cancer registry experience
• Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
