About The Position
Vancouver Animal Wellness Hospital is welcoming a full-time Registered Veterinary Technologist, RVT, to join our team! We are looking for someone with a strong interest in surgery, hoping to add alternative modalities to their repertoire of conventional medical skills. New grads welcome to apply. Integrative Medicine Approach: We combine traditional Western veterinary practices with complementary modalities such as acupuncture, veterinary medical manipulation care, massage and laser therapies, and herbal and nutrition-based therapies. Requirements
- Have completed the required Registered Veterinary Technician Program
- Have critical thinking and the ability to troubleshoot (anesthesia machines, monitoring equipment, etc.)
- Have excellent customer service, organizational and problem-solving skills
- Be motivated to develop your knowledge
- Have exceptional interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure
Nice To Haves
- Interest in alternative modalities preferred
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
- Be confident in your ability to place peripheral intravenous catheters and perform venipuncture for blood collections.
- Be confident in your ability to perform drug calculations and nutritional calculations.
- Perform basic physical exams by accurately counting heart/pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
- Understand normal vital parameters
