About The Position
San Diego Humane Society is hiring Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVT) for its San Diego Medical team. This role is crucial in supporting "Staying at Zero" strategic initiatives and providing high-quality care and assistance to veterinarians in diagnosing, treating, and managing animal patients. The position requires technical expertise, a passion for animals and people, and the ability to deliver service at a gold standard level in alignment with the SDHS Way. This role contributes to meeting the needs of animals and the people who love them by leading with compassion, finding creative solutions, providing personalized care, and building connections. Requirements
- California Registered Veterinary Technician licensure required.
- Minimum of one (1) year clinical and/or shelter experience in veterinary environment required.
Responsibilities
- Administer treatments and procedures & prepare and administer anesthetics
- Assist staff veterinarians with exams, procedures and monitoring animals before, during and post-surgery
- Perform emergency procedures (within the scope of a licensed RVT) as instructed by staff veterinarian
- Support training of new RVTs and Vet Assistants, as well as animal services staff members, volunteers, and interns
