About The Position

At Kersting Veterinary Hospital in Chesterfield, MO, we are committed to providing the highest level of care and medical expertise for all types of pets. We specialize in avian and exotic mammal care, offering a range of services for dogs, cats, and exotic pets, including dental care, preventative medicine, and emergency services. We are equipped to handle a variety of medical conditions and injuries, from routine check-ups to complex surgeries. Our team has extensive experience in diagnosing and treating a wide variety of avian species, and we use the latest technology and medical techniques to ensure our feathered patients receive the best possible care. Our hours of operation are Mon-Fri: 7:30AM - 6PM and Sat: 7:30AM - 2PM. We are closed on Sundays.

Requirements

A Registered Veterinary Technician with an active license required
Consistent punctuality and reliability in adherence to scheduled shifts
Availability to work Saturdays
Excellent client communication and medical record management skills
Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary procedures, preventative care, and hospital operations
Expertise in safe and low-stress animal restraint techniques
Proficiency in various sample collection methods, including blood, urine, fecal, and skin specimens
Experience in radiographic positioning and image capture
Experience in anesthesia administration and surgical monitoring
Commitment to professional ethics and continuous learning
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to animal-related hazards
Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises.
May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Nice To Haves

1+ year professional experience preferred but not required
Experience with Exotics is a plus!
additional skills in dental radiography being a plus

Responsibilities

Animal restraint
Triage of incoming patients
Collection and analysis of lab samples
Diagnostic imaging
Management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability
Administration of medications
Effective communication of treatment plans with clients
