About The Position

Shenandoah Veterinary Hospital is seeking to fill both full-time and part-time Registered Veterinary Technician positions. Established in 1974, our practice has been serving the community's pets for over 35 years. We are led by Dr. Darin Gilpin, Dr. Brian Gilpin, and Dr. Tori Shamblin Lefevers, and our team includes seven veterinarians, seven registered veterinary technicians, and many other experienced teammates dedicated to providing the best quality care. Our staff contributes expertise in various companion animal topics, supporting all aspects of patient care from complex surgical procedures to behavioral training. We offer a comprehensive range of services including preventative care, diagnostics, soft-tissue surgeries, laser therapy, dentistry, and an in-house pharmacy. We understand that pets are important family members and strive to provide them with the best possible care.

Requirements

  • An actively registered veterinary technician in the state of West Virginia
  • A high work ethic and positive attitude team member
  • Ability to arrive on-time and ready to work
  • Saturday availability
  • Exceptional customer service skills and ability to communicate precisely
  • Interpret medical records and record client history accurately
  • Knowledge in preventative care, surgical procedures, and hospital flow
  • Ability to restrain pets in a low-stress and safe manner
  • Proficient in sample collection to include blood samples, urine, fecal, and skin
  • Ability to properly set-up and process laboratory samples and tests
  • Proficient in positioning and capturing radiographs
  • Proficient in anesthesia and surgical monitoring
  • A self-starter with the desire to continue to advance one’s knowledge and skillset
  • Ability to receive in a professional manner constructive feedback to maintain hospital efficiency

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ year experience preferred
  • Positioning for dental radiographs are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Animal restraint
  • Triage of incoming patients
  • Collection and analysis of lab samples
  • Diagnostic imaging
  • Management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability
  • Administration of medications
