About The Position
Del Mar Heights Veterinary Hospital is seeking a Full-Time Registered Veterinary Technician to join their team. The hospital is comprised of highly trained and motivated individuals focused on patient health and well-being, serving Del Mar since 1990. This role offers a competitive salary and a full-time schedule with no weekends required, including 1-hour lunch breaks.
Requirements
- Registered Veterinary Technician in the state of California, license must be active and in good standing.
- 3+ years of veterinary experience in a clinical setting
- Knowledge of industry tools and equipment
- Passion for working with animals and their owners
- Understand the importance of excellent communication and organizational skills
Nice To Haves
- Perform complete dental procedures, including digital x-rays, scaling, polishing, charting, and extractions
- Ability to utilize ultrasound to obtain diagnostic images and urine samples
Responsibilities
- Perform basic exam procedures
- Skilled in venipuncture and Intravenous (IV) catheter placement (cephalic, saphenous, and jugular)
- Able to perform digital radiology (X-ray) including positioning
- Perform complete dental procedures, including digital x-rays, scaling, polishing, charting, and extractions (preferred)
- Comfortable with general anesthesia and surgical assisting (induction, intubation, monitoring, aseptic technique)
- Laboratory skills including microscope (ear and fecal cytology); in-house laboratory equipment
- Ability to utilize ultrasound to obtain diagnostic images and urine samples (preferred)
- Excellent client communication/education
- Ability to perform Technician appointments independently, including accurate medical record documentation
- Obtain accurate and thorough medical histories
- Experience with proper animal handling and restraint
