About The Position

The Registered Respiratory Therapist works in an acute-care hospital setting and provides respiratory care requiring critical thinking and knowledge of adult respiratory diseases, respiratory therapy treatments, and adult mechanical ventilation principles and guidelines. The role may involve Emergency Room, adult critical care, pulmonary function testing, blood gas analysis, and pulmonary rehabilitation. COPD education and tobacco-cessation counseling are a plus. This is a full-time day-shift position with benefits and a $20,000 sign-on bonus.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy or Respiratory Care program.
Current Florida license as a Registered Respiratory Therapist from the Department of Health.
Active NBRC certificate; NBRC registration as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is also listed as preferred.
BLS and ACLS certifications.
At least one year of hospital experience.
Competency in blood gas analysis and spirometry.
Knowledge of adult respiratory disease processes, respiratory therapy treatment applications, and adult mechanical ventilation principles and current practice guidelines.

Responsibilities

Perform floor-care therapies and administer oxygen in accordance with policies and procedures in an acute-care setting.
Perform or assist with endotracheal intubation safely when indicated.
Perform endotracheal extubation safely when indicated.
Maintain clinical competency in mechanical ventilation in adult critical-care units.
Safely and effectively draw arterial blood gases from radial, brachial, and femoral arteries.
Work across respiratory therapy areas, including the Emergency Room, adult critical care, pulmonary function testing, blood gas analysis, and pulmonary rehabilitation.
