About The Position

This full-time Registered Respiratory Therapist position is based in an acute care hospital and works the night shift. The role requires critical thinking and knowledge of adult respiratory diseases, respiratory therapy treatments, and adult mechanical ventilation principles and current practice guidelines. The therapist may work across respiratory therapy areas including the emergency room, adult critical care, bedside bronchoscopy, blood gas analysis, and spirometry. Responsibilities include providing floor-care therapies and oxygen administration in accordance with policies and procedures; safely performing or assisting with endotracheal intubation and extubation as indicated; maintaining clinical competency in adult critical-care mechanical ventilation; and safely and effectively drawing arterial blood gases from radial, brachial, and femoral arteries. Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy or Respiratory Care program.
Current Florida Registered Respiratory Therapist license from the Department of Health.
BLS certification.
ACLS certification.
At least one year of hospital experience.
Competency in blood gas analysis and spirometry.

Nice To Haves

Work experience in all aspects of respiratory care.
Registration by the NBRC as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is listed as preferred.
Experience assisting with bronchoscopy is a plus.

Responsibilities

Perform floor-care therapies and administer oxygen according to policy and procedure in an acute care setting.
