About The Position

This full-time Registered Respiratory Therapist position is based in an acute care hospital and requires critical thinking, knowledge of adult respiratory diseases and respiratory therapy treatments, and familiarity with adult mechanical ventilation principles and current practice guidelines. The therapist is expected to work across respiratory therapy areas, including the emergency room, adult critical care, pulmonary function testing, blood gas analysis, and pulmonary rehabilitation. COPD education and tobacco cessation counseling are considered a plus. The position offers a $20,000 sign-on bonus and increased pay rates, and includes benefits. The Respiratory Therapist performs floor-care therapies and administers oxygen according to policy and procedure; assists with or performs endotracheal intubation and extubation safely as indicated; maintains clinical competency in mechanical ventilation in adult critical care units; and safely performs arterial blood gas draws from radial, brachial, and femoral arteries.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care program.
Current Florida license as a Registered Respiratory Therapist from the Department of Health.
BLS certification.
ACLS certification.
At least one year of hospital experience.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge of adult respiratory disease processes, respiratory therapy treatments, and adult mechanical ventilation principles and current practice guidelines.

Nice To Haves

Work experience in all aspects of respiratory care.
Competency in blood gas analysis and spirometry.
Bronchoscopy assistance experience.
Registration by the NBRC as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is preferred.
COPD education and tobacco cessation counseling experience.

Responsibilities
