About The Position
NewYork-Presbyterian/Lower Manhattan is seeking a full-time Registered Respiratory Therapist for day shifts. The hospital highlights its respiratory therapy programs and advanced work with nitric oxide, oscillating and jet ventilators, and other techniques intended to improve care quality and shorten lengths of stay. Respiratory Therapists help provide patient care and contribute to the future of the field. The therapist assists with transporting intubated patients, with particular attention to maintaining airways and providing adequate ventilation and oxygenation. The therapist assesses respiratory therapy modalities and recommends changes, including improvements to the delivery of respiratory care. The position requires on-site presence, variable by role, and employees should live within commuting distance of NYP. Travel expenses are not reimbursed.
Requirements
- Graduate of an American Medical Association college program.
- New York State Respiratory Therapist license.
- Basic Life Support Certification (BCLS).
- Working knowledge of current standards of mechanical ventilation and ventilators.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor's degree.
- Experience with adult, pediatric, and infant patients.
- Advanced Life Support Certification (ACLS).
Responsibilities
- Assist in the transportation of intubated patients, emphasizing airway maintenance and adequate ventilation and oxygenation.
- Assess respiratory therapy modalities and recommend changes, including improvements to respiratory care delivery.
