This is a PRN Position. The Registered Respiratory Therapist is responsible for the competent delivery of all Respiratory Care procedures as outlined in the department policy and procedure manual. This includes maintaining accurate documentation, verifying physician's orders, preparing and giving reports, attending department meetings, and entering data for services and charges. The role requires a working knowledge of Respiratory Care instruments and equipment, effective airway management, and the ability to assist with intubation. Additionally, the RRT will assist in the orientation and training of new employees and students, perform arterial blood gas draws, and initiate, maintain, and monitor ventilator patients. The position also involves completing required continuous training, complying with personal protective equipment requirements, and performing patient charge reconciliation. The RRT must possess a working knowledge of all cardiopulmonary equipment and proficiently perform all assigned modalities. They will also translate medication into neonatal and pediatric doses, assess adult and geriatric patients for special needs, and assess and provide mechanical ventilation for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients under physician direction. A key aspect of the role is the ability to fully assess patient respiratory status, make recommendations for therapeutic interventions, and document status, progress, and the effect of therapeutics. The RRT is expected to demonstrate full commitment to the CHOICE values of MRH, foster positive working relationships, adhere to dress code, exhibit initiative, complete required training, maintain patient confidentiality, report to work punctually, contribute to performance improvement initiatives, ensure regulatory compliance, and follow infection control, safety, and risk management procedures.
