This is a PRN position for a Registered Respiratory Therapist. The role involves the competent delivery of all Respiratory Care procedures, maintaining accurate documentation, verifying physician's orders, and preparing/giving reports. The therapist will attend department meetings and in-services, keep the supervisor informed of workload changes, and perform data entry for services and charges. A working knowledge of Respiratory Care instruments and equipment is essential, including troubleshooting and problem resolution. The position requires effective airway management, including bag/mask ventilation, assisting with intubation, and demonstrating safe suction techniques. Responsibilities also include assisting in the orientation and training of new employees and students. The therapist will perform arterial blood gas draws, initiate, maintain, and monitor ventilator patients, interpreting flow volumes and pressure volume curves. Continuous training and education, including department-specific requirements, are mandatory. Compliance with personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements for various exposures is necessary. The role includes patient charge reconciliation and verifying payroll time submission. A working knowledge of all cardiopulmonary equipment and proficiency in assigned modalities are expected. The therapist will translate medication into neonatal and pediatric doses, use proper equipment and procedures based on patient size and disease severity, and assess adult and geriatric patients for special needs. They will also assess and provide mechanical ventilation for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients under physician direction. The ability to fully assess patient respiratory status, make therapeutic recommendations, and document progress is crucial. Other duties as assigned will be performed.
