About The Position

University Hospitals is hiring a part-time, day-shift Registered Respiratory Therapist to support adult patients at its Level 1 medical center in Cleveland. The role is part of a dynamic, collaborative interdisciplinary team and contributes to patient care for people with breathing issues. The therapist learns and incorporates the mission and standards of behavior of the hospital or care facility, performs basic competencies during orientation, and provides satisfactory respiratory therapy with minimum supervision. The position is 24 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with rotating weekends and holidays. The therapist must comply with all policies and standards, perform other duties as assigned, and follow department-provided documentation for specific duties and responsibilities. The role also requires securely maintaining patients’ Protected Health Information (PHI) in accordance with annual training, the UH Code of Conduct, and UH policies and procedures.

Requirements

Associate’s degree in Respiratory or Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory.
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Current RCP Ohio License granted by the Ohio Medical Board.
AARC membership within 6 months of hire date.

Nice To Haves

At least 1 year of respiratory therapy experience; at least 1 year of recent experience is preferred.
Previous hospital experience.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.

Responsibilities

Provide mechanical ventilation.
Deliver medicated aerosols.
Provide airway clearance therapy.
Monitor patients.
Provide oxygen and humidity therapy.
Perform special procedures, including CPR, specialty gases, bronchoscopy, and transport.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Comply with all policies and standards.
Safely and securely maintain patients’ Protected Health Information (PHI).
