About The Position

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) works under physician direction and under the supervision of the Respiratory Care Clinical Team Manager. Working within the limits of their license and credentials, the RRT follows institutional and departmental policies, procedures, and standards. The role provides quality patient care, promotes a healthy work environment, and projects a positive image for the UAMS Health Benton/Bryant location.

This is a PRN/Extra Help position and is not benefits eligible. The position is listed as Temporary (Fixed Term).

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED plus two years of direct respiratory care experience, or an associate’s degree.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by hire date.
• Current Arkansas Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner (LRCP) by hire date.
• Ability to meet the role’s personal protective equipment requirements, including use of N95 masks, PAPR, or CAPR.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in respiratory care.
• One or more of the following credentials: ACCS, NPS, ACLS.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine respiratory care procedures, including updrafts, metered dose inhalers (MDI), chest physiotherapy (CPT), arterial blood gases (ABG), incentive spirometry, intrapulmonary percussive ventilation (IPV), patient education, and mechanical ventilator setup and management.
• Assist in codes and rapid responses.
• Call for or physically move equipment and medical supplies into assigned work areas.
• Enter patient treatment notes in the e-chart system and/or place documentation in patient charts.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Be fitted for and capable of donning and performing routine tasks in personal protective equipment, including N95 masks, Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR), or Controlled Air Purifying Respirators (CAPR).
