About The Position

Provide respiratory care assessment, therapy, equipment, assistance, education, and problem resolution to customers at Unity Health System during the assigned shift. Deliver personalized patient care and superior customer service by modeling the organization’s Brand Promise and Core Values. The position is per diem in the Respiratory Therapy department at Unity Hospital in Rochester, New York, with 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in a health care-related field; respiratory therapy graduates must have an Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy.
• NYS license as a Respiratory Therapist (RT), or NYS license as a Respiratory Therapy Technician (RTT) with active NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentials.
• Respiratory therapy graduates must obtain NBRC RRT credentials within one year of hire.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Demonstrated clinical excellence.

Responsibilities

• Review and evaluate each patient’s history, physical exams, current vital signs, and admission and current respiratory care orders; advise providers on appropriate respiratory care procedures and techniques.
• Initiate and update respiratory care plans according to department policy and procedure, collaborating with the healthcare team to implement plans of care.
• Monitor and document pertinent clinical parameters and assessments for assigned patients, and modify treatment techniques based on patient response.
• Provide and document patient education for therapeutic procedures performed.
• Communicate information about patients’ clinical status to appropriate healthcare team members.
• Participate in instruction and orientation of Respiratory Care team members, students, and other allied health professionals.
