This position is responsible for the competent delivery of all Respiratory Care procedures as outlined in the department policy and procedure manual. The role involves maintaining accurate documentation, verifying physician orders, preparing and delivering patient reports, and participating in department meetings and in-services. The therapist will manage workload updates, data entry for services and charges, and demonstrate a working knowledge of Respiratory Care instruments and equipment, including troubleshooting and problem resolution. Key responsibilities include airway management, assisting with intubation, performing arterial blood gas draws, and initiating, maintaining, and monitoring ventilator patients. The role also involves training new employees and students, assessing patient needs across different age groups (adult, geriatric, pediatric, neonatal), and making recommendations for therapeutic interventions. The therapist must also ensure compliance with safety protocols, including personal protective equipment, and perform patient charge reconciliation and payroll verification.
