About The Position

Cass Regional is a 35-bed critical access hospital located south of Kansas City. We are seeking a full-time, day shift lead Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) who values teamwork, a family atmosphere, and providing the highest quality patient care. This role is for individuals who appreciate high standards and performers. The primary purpose of this position is to provide for the cardiac and respiratory needs of patients according to physician’s orders. Additionally, the role is responsible for assisting in maintaining departmental objectives for the benefit of patients and staff.

Requirements

  • Junior college/two-year college training
  • RRT certification by the NBRC
  • BLS & ACLS required
  • Missouri License required
  • Knowledgeable of insurance requirements for home use equipment and patient testing
  • Knowledgeable of lung disease process, abnormal vs. normal vital signs and lab values
  • Maintain high level of understanding of pulmonary diseases and pulmonary diagnostic procedures
  • Knowledgeable of policies and procedures related to competency evaluation
  • Knowledgeable of hospital directives and departmental policies
  • Knowledgeable of MO board for respiratory care rules
  • Understanding of basic employment legalities
  • Knowledgeable of AARC guidelines
  • Knowledgeable of Pulmonary Rehab certification requirements
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Verbal and written communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Team lead or management experience preferred
  • Pulmonary Function Testing preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintains blood gas lab, including reviewing QC, monitoring logs, performing calibration verification, designating proficiency testing, and compiling PI.
  • Assists with employee/student training, including department meeting preparation, training sessions, competency check-offs, and coordinating student orientation and shifts.
  • Performs all aspects of respiratory care, including therapies, testing modalities, and 'stat' orders within specified timeframes.
  • Performs patient assessment/care plans and reassesses every three days.
  • Provides guidance in the director’s absence, including maintaining adequate staffing, managing supplies, responding to emergency recalls, initiating discipline, and responding to customer needs.
  • Provides input in the employee appraisal process and performs QA of employee performance, including reviewing charting and monitoring performance related to therapies, job duties, and customer service.
  • Provides education and assists with the COPD support group, including patient education on medications, home equipment, tobacco cessation, and pulmonary disease processes.
  • Assists RT director and Pulmonary Rehab Therapist with COPD support group activities.
