Requirements

  • Associate degree in respiratory therapy
  • Graduate of a Respiratory Therapy program approved by the NBRC
  • Meet all Employee Health Requirement
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner License issued by the State of NM
  • NBRC (RRT) Credential (National Board of Respiratory Care) must have upon hire
  • BLS Certification
  • ACLS Certification

Nice To Haves

  • PALS Certification
  • Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Certification

Responsibilities

  • Ensures delivery of patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient outcomes.
  • Reviews and Revises plan of patient care as needed.
  • Cognitive and technical knowledge and ability to progressively manage care delivery across the continuum of care.
  • The ability to retrieve, communicate and present data and information both verbally and in writing is required.
  • Restores patient’s pulmonary function, alleviates pain, and supports life by planning and administering medically prescribed respiratory therapies.
  • Helps patients accomplish treatment plans and supports life by administering inhalation therapies, chest physiotherapies, and other lung expansion therapies operating mechanical ventilators, for all ages ranging from neonates to geriatrics.
  • Administering respiratory therapy treatments by performing bronchopulmonary drainage, assisting with breathing exercises, and monitoring physiological response to therapy, such as vital signs, arterial blood gases, etc.
  • Evaluates effects of respiratory therapy treatment plan by observing, noting, and evaluating patient’s progress along with recommending adjustments and modifications.
  • Able to perform other cardiopulmonary services such as: EKG’s and Bronchoscopy.
  • Documents patient care services by charting patient and department records.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and protects hospital operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with policy, procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  • Attend staff meetings as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
