About The Position

The Respiratory Therapist provides compassionate respiratory care to chronic, critically ill patients at a critical illness recovery hospital that delivers inpatient post-ICU services. The position is based in Oregon, Ohio, and may require picking up shifts at both the Sylvania and Oregon locations as needed.

This is a per diem/PRN night-shift role with 12-hour shifts from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. The schedule requires a minimum of two shifts per week, at least three weekend shifts per six-week scheduling cycle, and one major and one minor holiday per year. Compensation is $50 per hour, plus night and weekend shift differentials.

The organization provides an extensive orientation program and notes that demonstrated skills and dedication may lead to potential full-time opportunities. Part-time and per-diem employees may be eligible for a 401(k) after reaching 1,000 hours within their first anniversary or a subsequent calendar year.

Requirements

• Possess an active CRT or RRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or state equivalent.
• Provide proof of graduation: college transcript or diploma (preferred), or high school transcript or diploma or GED.
• Possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the start date.
• Hold current state licensure.
• Have ACLS upon hire; agency respiratory therapists must have ACLS by their first shift.

Nice To Haves

• One year of related experience is preferred.
• College transcript or diploma is preferred as proof of graduation.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and recommend an appropriate treatment plan.
• Provide respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions.
• Perform insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes.
• Promote continuous quality improvement.
• Teach and counsel patients and families.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
