About The Position

The Corporation of the City of Thunder Bay has a rewarding opportunity for Registered Practical Nurses at Pioneer Ridge, the City’s municipally operated long-term care home. Requirements

  • Current unrestricted certificate of competence as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Valid Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
  • Knowledge of long-term care legislation, including the Long-Term Care Homes Act and Residents’ Bill of Rights.
  • Strong ability to understand and meet the needs of residents, families, and colleagues.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in long-term care or gerontology preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, resident-first care.
  • Strengthen clinical and supervisory skillsets within the Resident Home Area.
  • Support care delivery, staff, and the overall environment.
  • Provide individualized care in accordance with professional and legislative standards, and Pioneer Ridge’s vision, mission, and caring philosophy.
  • Commit to resident safety and quality care that reflects Pioneer Ridge’s values and standards.
  • Plan, implement, coordinate, and evaluate care that supports physical, emotional, psychological, cultural, spiritual, and social needs.
  • Complete accurate documentation, including assessments, care plans, medical records, MDS, and RAI reporting.
  • Encourage resident participation and family involvement in daily living and health promotion.
  • Foster a respectful, safe, and supportive environment that promotes dignity, autonomy, and personal choice.
  • Promote independence by encouraging active participation in daily activities.
