About The Position

Sovah Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Medical/Surgical and Post-Op unit. The 12-bed unit cares for post-operative spine, orthopedic, ENT, abdominal, thoracic, vascular, and urology patients, as well as general medical patients. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5–6. The team is close-knit and collaborative, with strong nurse-physician teamwork, and the department is growing as surgical services expand.

The role is scheduled for three 12-hour day shifts, 7 a.m.–7 p.m., with every other weekend. The hourly pay range is $31.49–$42.51, and eligible candidates may receive a $20,000 sign-on bonus. The nurse performs and documents patient care, monitors patient conditions, coordinates care across disciplines, educates and advocates for patients and families, and participates in performance improvement and continuing education.

Requirements

• Active Virginia single-state RN license or compact license; if relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence before employment begins.
• Associate’s degree in nursing.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
• Experience in the clinical area preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs plan-of-care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, and clinical treatments.
• Documents patient care and monitors patient condition, communicating with the care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Coordinates patient care across disciplines, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and support needs.
• Provides patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, and circumstances.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.
• Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
