The Registered Nurse (RN) uses the nursing process—including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes and planning, implementation, and evaluation—to provide individualized care. The Admissions Recovery Unit (ARU) is a 47-bed unit caring for patients ages 17 and older who are scheduled for elective surgical, interventional radiology, endoscopy, and cardiology procedures. The unit prepares patients safely for procedures and supports their discharge home. It is open Monday through Friday from 5:00 a.m. until the last patient discharges in the evening and is closed on weekends and holidays. The RN collaborates with interprofessional colleagues, including physicians, to plan, implement, and evaluate care. The role encompasses patient care across prevention, health maintenance, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up, as well as care planning and coordination, assessment, education, triage, and other nursing interventions. The RN practices within the applicable Nurse Practice Act, administrative rules, professional nursing standards, and ethics.
