The Clinical Nurse provides and coordinates clinically competent, evidence-based care for an assigned group of patients, including assessment and diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The nurse follows the NMH framework for practice and the ANA Scope and Standards of Professional Nursing, Code of Ethics, Nursing Social Policy Statement, and applicable organizational, regulatory, and accreditation requirements. This position serves patients on a high-acuity transplant and hepatology unit, including patients with hepatology conditions and kidney, liver, and pancreas transplants. Care may include patients recovering from large liver resections and kidney or pancreas transplants, as well as patients requiring hypertensive blood pressure management. The RN participates in clinical decision-making, patient and team education, mentoring, and multidisciplinary collaboration to advance care plans, improve outcomes, and support unit operations. The unit supports professional growth through quality committees, evidence-based nursing initiatives, and the LEAD (Lead, Excel, and Develop) Program. Nurses work in a collaborative environment with advanced practice providers, physicians, physical and occupational therapists, and social work. Nurses with less than one year of experience can access the nationally accredited Nurse Residency Transition into Practice Program, which provides structured orientation and resources to develop acute assessment, critical-thinking, and analytical skills.
