About The Position

The Registered Nurse-Transplant works on a high-acuity hepatology and transplant unit serving patients with hepatology conditions and kidney, liver, and pancreas transplants. Patient care includes complex cases such as large liver resections, kidney and pancreas transplants, and hypertensive blood pressure management. The unit provides a supportive, collaborative environment involving nurses, advanced practice providers, physicians, therapists, and social work, with opportunities for professional growth, quality-improvement participation, and evidence-based nursing practice. Nurses may participate in departmental committees and the LEAD (Lead, Excel, and Develop) Program. Nurses with less than one year of experience receive a structured orientation through the nationally accredited Nurse Residency Transition into Practice Program. The Clinical Nurse reflects Northwestern Medicine’s mission, vision, and values and follows its ethical, compliance, policy, regulatory, and accreditation standards. Within the NMH framework for practice, the registered professional clinical nurse is accountable for coordinating and providing clinically competent, evidence-based care to an assigned group of patients through assessment and diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
