Registered Nurse (RN) - Stepdown Unit
About The Position
Sentara is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) at Sentara Norfolk General's Step-Down Unit in Norfolk, Virginia. A sign-on bonus of up to $15,000 is offered for qualified candidates, and relocation packages are available. This is a full-time, permanent position working weekend days (7a-7p) on Friday/Saturday/Sunday or Saturday/Sunday/Monday. The unit is a beautiful, brand new 24-bed Medicine unit with modern amenities. The patient population is diverse, including cardiac, renal failure, vascular, sepsis, pneumonia, sickle cell, OR-prep, and various wound care cases. This role is considered a great stepping stone towards ICU or ED positions. The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care using the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching, health promotion, and evaluation. Professional performance standards encompass ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health. The RN must possess clinical knowledge and skills to meet specific clinical area standards. All Direct Care RNs are required to have BLS within 90 days of hire.
Requirements
- RN Degree REQUIRED
- Virginia RN License REQUIRED
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required within 90-days of hire

- Prior RN experience PREFERRED
