Sentara is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) at Sentara Norfolk General's Step-Down Unit in Norfolk, Virginia. This is a full-time day shift position. The unit is a 24-bed Medicine unit featuring new technology and a diverse patient population including cardiac, renal failure, vascular, sepsis, pneumonia, sickle cell, OR-prep, and various wound care cases. This unit is considered a great stepping stone to the ICU or ED. The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care using the nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching, health promotion, and evaluation. Professional performance standards encompass ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health. The RN must possess clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards required by specific clinical areas. All Direct Care RNs are required to have BLS within 90 days of hire.
