About The Position

The Registered Nurse in the Observation Unit at Bronson Methodist Hospital manages patient care throughout the length of stay under general supervision and in accordance with organizational policies, unit procedures, and the Michigan Public Health Code. The role uses the nursing process—assessment, planning, diagnosis, implementation, and evaluation—to achieve quality outcomes and timely discharge. The RN coordinates care with other professionals, delegates appropriate tasks to patient care assistants and universal service assistants, provides physical care appropriate to patient acuity and complexity, and documents and communicates patient responses, resource use, and anticipated needs during each tour of duty. Direct-care employees must demonstrate competencies specific to the patient population served. The RN provides individualized, evidence-based care; assesses patients and identifies problems; establishes expected outcomes and plans of care with patient and family input; implements and evaluates interventions; administers prescribed medications and treatments; supports patient education and discharge planning; and maintains patient comfort, safety, dignity, confidentiality, and rights. The nurse collaborates with patients, families, and healthcare disciplines, contributes to quality improvement and professional development, and integrates research and ethical standards into practice. This is a part-time, 12-hour day-shift position, scheduled for 24 hours weekly. The posting includes additional role-specific duties and requirements for departments and facilities other than the Observation Unit; these are not necessarily applicable to this position.
