About The Position

The Registered Nurse manages patient care throughout the length of stay under general supervision and in accordance with organizational, unit, and Michigan Public Health Code requirements. The nurse coordinates care delivered by other professionals, delegates appropriate tasks, provides physical care according to professional scope and patient acuity, and documents and communicates patient responses, resource use, and anticipated needs. The position follows professional nursing and performance standards, including comprehensive assessment, individualized care planning, medication and treatment administration, patient education, evaluation of outcomes, quality improvement, ongoing competency development, collaboration, ethical practice, patient advocacy, and evidence-based care. Nurses contribute to a supportive work environment and professional development, participate in appropriate committees and councils, and attend at least 50% of unit staff meetings. The posting also describes specialized duties for scrub RNs, virtual RNs, and certain other hospital units or locations. These include preparing for procedures and anticipating surgical team needs; rotational after-hours call for scrub RNs; remote patient screening, education, discharge planning, and documentation for virtual RNs; and additional location- or unit-specific training, certification, or coverage requirements. The position is a full-time, 12-hour day-shift role scheduled for 36 hours per week in the OB Labor/Delivery Unit at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.
