Registered Nurse - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

About The Position

Provides direct nursing care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization. The role works under general supervision and applies advanced skills and knowledge in the area of specialization. The nurse supports Owensboro Health’s mission, vision, core commitments, and business interests, and follows organizational policies and procedures while promoting compliance, safety, and high reliability.

Requirements

Associate’s degree or higher, or Diploma in Nursing, required upon hire.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nursing required within five years of employment in this position.
Licensed as a Registered Nurse and eligible to practice nursing in Kentucky upon hire.
Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification required within 45 days of employment.
Neonatal Resuscitation Program Provider certification required within 12 months of employment.
Critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
No work experience required.

Responsibilities

Performs functions related to problem definition, data collection, interpretation, and analysis.
Implements and monitors patient care plans.
Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines to support well-coordinated patient care.
Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
Assesses and coordinates patient discharge planning needs with the patient, family, and healthcare team members.
Assesses the learning needs of patients and families and provides education based on age, culture, and willingness to learn.
Performs job duties in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act.
