About The Position

Join Baylor Scott and White Medical Center - Irving as a Registered Nurse in our Labor and Delivery unit. This is a fast-paced environment that includes high acuity patients. Our Labor and Delivery leadership team fosters an environment that supports learning, mentoring, and building every team member. The unit has 10 L&D rooms and 2 OB Triage beds, serving OB patients >20 weeks gestation. Patient ratios are typically 1:2 in L&D and 1:2-3 in OB Triage, depending on acuity, phase of care, and census. The department is characterized by fast-paced, positive teamwork, collaboration, good communication, accountability, flexibility, and a commitment to problem-solving and a culture of safety.

Requirements

  • 18 months/1.5 years of experience in Labor and Delivery, preferably at level III or higher.
  • Graduate of an Accredited Nursing Program.
  • RN – Registered Nurse license.
  • BLS – Basic Life Support (required within 30 days of hire).
  • ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support (required within 30 days of hire).
  • NRP – Neonatal Resuscitation Program (required within 30 days of hire).
  • AWHONN intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring (required within 30 days of hire).

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 2+ years of recent experience in L&D.
  • External candidates must have a minimum of two (2) years of RN experience to qualify for the Sign-On Bonus.
  • Relocation assistance is available for candidates moving 50+ miles from their current residence.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care to OB patients >20 weeks gestation.
  • Manage patient care in a fast-paced Labor and Delivery environment with high acuity patients.
  • Collaborate with intra and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Contribute to a culture of safety and problem-solve in patient care.
  • Participate in a strong shared governance model featuring unit-based councils.
  • Engage in a spirit of inquiry and innovation promoting Evidence-based practice, research, and innovations in nursing practice.
