About The Position

The Banner Health New Nurse Experience is a full-time Registered Nurse position designed to help recent graduates transition into professional nursing practice. The program offers a collaborative learning environment, clinical mentoring by unit staff and educators, professional development opportunities, and an expectation that participants remain on their assigned unit for at least 12 months. Nurses must live within a reasonable commuting distance of their facility. Most new nurses work three 12-hour shifts, including weekend and holiday rotations. The program includes precepted clinical experiences, training at the Banner Simulation Center, competency and skills assessments, orientation to the Cerner electronic medical record, hands-on skills lab experience, e-learning, and personal and professional development resources. This role is based on a 40-bed general Medical Progressive Care Unit (PCU) that cares for complex, multisystem patients, including vascular, cardiothoracic surgical, heart failure, neurological, and respiratory patients. Patients may be admitted from the ICU, the emergency department, or other floors when their acuity changes. The position assesses, plans, provides, evaluates, and documents nursing care in accordance with organizational policies and professional nursing standards. It uses specialized nursing knowledge and judgment to provide care appropriate to patients’ physical and developmental needs, and is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by the nurse or those under their direction. The position is full-time, paid, and benefits-eligible. Weekend shifts receive a flat $3-per-hour differential; an 18% night-shift differential applies when applicable. Benefits begin on the first day of the month following the start date.
