The Registered Nurse position is part of Banner Health’s full-time New Nurse Experience (NNE), a residency program accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Practice Transition Accreditation Program. The program supports new graduates as they transition into professional nursing through clinical mentorship, skills development, and opportunities to build professional relationships. Successful candidates are placed in a designated unit and are expected to remain on that unit for at least 12 months. They must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the facility. The role is in a fast-paced, 24-private-bed Surgical PCU/IMCU caring for adult and geriatric medical and surgical patients, including stable ventilated patients awaiting long-term-care placement. Nurses may develop skills in managing insulin, heparin, and non-titratable cardiac drips; wound, enteral, ostomy, and tracheostomy care; management of multiple types of drains; and Foley management and education. The unit offers opportunities for education, process and quality improvement, and interprofessional collaboration. The RN assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents patient care according to organizational policies and professional nursing standards. The role uses specialized nursing knowledge and judgment to provide care appropriate to patients’ physical and developmental needs, and is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by the RN and those working under their direction. Nurses collaborate with patients, families, physicians, and multidisciplinary team members; coordinate and delegate care; communicate changes in patient status; and contribute to safe, effective patient outcomes and unit improvement. NNE program activities include clinical experiences with a preceptor, training in the Banner Simulation Center, competency and skills assessments, orientation to the Cerner electronic health record, hands-on patient-care skills lab training, e-learning modules, and professional and personal development resources. Most new nurses work three 12-hour shifts with weekend and holiday rotations. The posting lists the program’s usual schedule as night shift, 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.; the role listing itself identifies a day shift. The position is full-time, paid, and benefits-eligible. New graduates receive a flat $3-per-hour weekend shift differential. Benefits begin on the first day of the month following the start date.
