About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides patient care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Under the supervision of Charge Nurse(s), the RN provides patient education and activities in accordance with their competencies and education. The position calls for strong communication and critical-thinking skills to support optimal patient outcomes. This part-time role is with the clinical team at LaSalle County Jail and is scheduled for 24 hours per week on the day shift, 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.

Requirements

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
Maintain current Registered Nurse licensure in the state of employment.
Obtain and maintain CPR certification.
Reside in the United States.

A minimum of one year of clinic experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist in assessing and planning individual treatment programs in consultation with Charge Nurse(s) and other staff as necessary.
Implement medical plans by administering medications, obtaining diagnostic tests, and assisting with medical or minor surgical procedures as needed.
Count controlled substances and carry out clinical and technical aspects of care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols.
Document nursing encounters using SOAP charting as required by policy.
Attend mandatory staff meetings and training.
Communicate information to nursing staff, physicians, health care unit supervisory personnel, or other staff as necessary.
Provide patient education and activities in accordance with competencies and education.
