About The Position
Putnam Hospital Center is hiring a part-time Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department day shift. The nurse plans, coordinates, and implements patient care appropriate to the ages of the patients served. The role ensures that care is safe, efficient, and consistent with departmental standards and the Standards of Emergency Nursing Practice. The nurse is expected to support the unit’s and organization’s mission, philosophy, and goals; adapt to changing systems; demonstrate effective work habits and clinical practice; and treat staff, physicians, patients, and families with consideration and respect. Putnam Hospital is a 164-bed acute care hospital in Carmel, New York. The hospital describes a team environment that values open communication, continuous learning, compassion, and teamwork.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
- Current license as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
- BLS certification upon hire.
- ACLS certification within one year of hire or transfer.
- PALS certification within two years of hire or transfer.
- One year of medical/surgical nursing experience.
- Current knowledge and skills appropriate to the age and type of patient population served.
- Must meet clinical competency standards specific to Emergency Department patients.
Nice To Haves
- NALS/NRP is recommended and desired.
- TNCC is recommended.
- CEN certification is desired.
Responsibilities

- Ensure care is provided efficiently and safely in accordance with departmental standards and the Standards of Emergency Nursing Practice.

- Remain flexible as systems change and demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice.
- Treat staff, physicians, patients, and families with consideration and respect.
- Meet clinical competency standards specific to Emergency Department patients.
