About The Position

The Staff Nurse Inpatient reflects Northwestern Medicine’s mission, vision, and values, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with applicable policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory and accreditation standards. This clinically competent registered professional nurse prescribes, delegates, and coordinates nursing care for acutely ill patients through assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. The nurse interacts effectively with patients, significant others, and other members of the health team while maintaining ANA standards of professional nursing practice.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license.
Basic Life Support.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to collaborate with others.
Strong analytic abilities.

Nice To Haves

Experience in the specific clinical area.
For Emergency Room and Pediatric Emergency Room roles: Trauma Nurse Specialist (TNS), Emergency Communications Registered Nurse, Certified Pediatric Nurse, or Certified Emergency Nurse.

Responsibilities

Collect and analyze patient data; identify expected outcomes; develop and implement individualized plans; coordinate care delivery; and evaluate progress toward outcomes.
Direct care and determine appropriate utilization of assistants involved in direct patient care.
Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, and ancillary staff.
Create and document plans focused on outcomes and care-delivery decisions, including communication with patients, families, and others.
Participate in shared governance, committee work, and unit projects.
Evaluate and document patient responses to nursing interventions in the health record and individualize the plan of care based on findings.
Use the best available evidence, including research findings, to guide practice decisions.
Adhere to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program and applicable policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory and accreditation standards.
