The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) provides concentrated observation and care to patients of all ages during the immediate post-anesthesia period. This role facilitates patient care through collaboration with physicians and other healthcare team members, including transfer to the appropriate department as part of a continuum of care. The RN is responsible for coordinating care to meet patient and family needs, utilizing critical thinking and the nursing process. This includes discharge planning, identifying resources, linking patients with necessary services, monitoring care delivery, advocating for the patient, care planning, and evaluating outcomes. The position may require flexibility of hours.
