Registered Nurse (RN) - Float / Swat - Full Time Nights
About The Position
Essentia Health is hiring a full-time Registered Nurse for its Acute Care Float Pool. The role provides high-quality, compassionate, patient-centered care across various units or departments in the healthcare facility. The nurse adapts to different clinical environments and teams, covering staffing needs caused by absences, high patient census, or other operational demands. This position is 0.9 FTE, working 36 hours per week on a permanent straight-night rotation from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. The schedule includes every third weekend and an every-other-holiday rotation. There is no call obligation. The position is eligible for float-pool and straight-night premiums in addition to base wage. Qualified candidates may be eligible for a hiring incentive of up to $7,500 for an ADN or up to $10,000 for a BSN.
Requirements
- Current nursing license in the state of employment.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within one month of hire.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within one year of hire.

- One year of acute care nursing experience.
Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care in accordance with established nursing standards and facility policies.
- Float between units such as medical-surgical, telemetry, ICU, emergency, pediatrics, or other departments as needed.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Administer medications, treatments, and procedures safely and accurately.
- Monitor and document patient progress, updating records as required.
- Respond to emergencies and provide appropriate interventions.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members.
- Adapt quickly to different environments, electronic health record systems, and team dynamics.
- Comply with infection control, safety, and quality assurance standards.
