The Registered Nurse (RN) uses the nursing process—including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes and planning, implementation, and evaluation—to provide individualized care. This position collaborates with physicians and other inter-professional colleagues to plan, implement, and evaluate care, and practices within the full scope of nursing expertise and applicable age- and population-specific standards. The RN supports patients through preventative care, health maintenance, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up, and is responsible for care planning and coordination, patient assessment and education, triage, and other nursing interventions. Practice must comply with the Nurse Practice Act and administrative rules in the state of practice and licensure, as well as Sanford’s stated professional nursing standards and code of ethics. The role is on Sanford Health’s Trauma Medical Surgical Unit, a 32-plus-bed unit caring for adult medical and surgical trauma patients. The unit treats a range of medical patients and general surgical cases, including vascular surgery, trauma, and orthopedic trauma. It is a busy, fast-paced setting with high patient turnover. The unit emphasizes teamwork, safety, clear communication, and delegation. New graduates are welcome.
