About The Position

The Detroit Medical Center Registered Nurse is a member of the Patient Care Services Team and is responsible for satisfactory completion of nursing care by the nursing team. The RN manages and provides care for a group of patients and their families, using independent judgment and collaborating with team members, including ancillary and support services. The role encompasses leadership, partnership, collaboration, teaching, and supervision.

The position is at Children’s Hospital of Michigan, an international leader in pediatric and adolescent medicine. Its services include general, thoracic, reconstructive, and cardiovascular surgery; pediatric imaging; emergency care as a verified Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and dedicated pediatric burn center; and pediatric critical care, rehabilitation, neonatal, and perinatal medicine.

Requirements

• Graduation from a school of nursing.
• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Michigan.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with physicians and other healthcare providers.
• Delegate, assess, provide, and evaluate patient care.
• Provide and delegate patient care activities to team members.
• Monitor patient progress and prepare patients for discharge.
• Report directly to senior unit management and participate in shared decision-making activities.
