About The Position

Plans and implements professional nursing care for patients in accordance with hospital policies. Assumes charge nurse responsibilities as assigned. 6VP is a Progressive Adult ICU unit with 48 beds. Our Care team consists of Registered Nurses, a Clinical Educator, Nursing Assistants, Unit Secretary, Resource Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Case Managers, Physical Therapists, Dieticians and Occupational and Speech Therapists. Nurse to patient ratio is 1:4 but may vary. Our Patients include acute Adult and Geriatric patients.

Requirements

Associates Degree in Nursing or equivalent required
Current licensure in North Carolina as a Registered Nurse or Compact state licensure
Telemetry Monitoring
Respiratory Treatments (Bipap/Cpap/High Flow)
Chest tubes/Tracheostomies
Administer Critical Drips
Diabetic Ketoacidosis
Acute Renal Failure
Sepsis
Post Surgical/Trauma
Post Cerebrovascular Accident
Pre and Post Cardiac Cath Procedures
Post Myocardial Infarction
Cardiac Dysrhythmia Requiring Drug Therapy
Pre and Post Angioplasty and Stent Placement
Pre and Post AICD/Pacemaker placement
Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language
Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills
Verbal and written skills required
Demonstrates effective organizational and leadership skills
Has knowledge of the age-specific physiological and psychosocial, developmental and spiritual needs of the patients typically served
Speech and auditory acuity for communication of patient needs
Visual acuity for observation of patients
Much standing, walking, bending, and lifting
May involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material
Must be able to lift 35 pounds

Responsibilities

Actively participates in cost containment and assists in accurate charging for patient services

Supports patients in the practice of their cultural and spiritual beliefs within limits of medical regimen
