About The Position

Thrive Behavioral Network is seeking an AMAZING Behavioral Healthcare Team member for their Austin Manor location. This role is for a Registered Nurse who wants to join a supportive team atmosphere and work with people who genuinely like other people and embrace differences. The position involves programmatic and direct medical care for the Intensive Residential Treatment Services program, including clinical, supervisory, and direct care responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Licensed Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Must have a valid license to practice in the State of Minnesota.
  • Qualified Mental Health Practitioner in accordance with M Statute 245.462 Subdivision 17.
  • Must have professional experience in direct service to individuals with mental health issues and experience in management and supervision.
  • Must have a sincere desire to work with and promote the delivery of culturally competent services.

Responsibilities

  • Direct oversight of client’s medical care, medication administration procedures, and oversight of professional and paraprofessional staff administering medications.
  • Monitoring client health status while in the program.
  • Assessing client health at intake and monitoring while in the program.
  • Referrals to and coordination with community psychiatric care providers.
  • Referring clients to or performing annual physical exams if due.
  • Addressing the needs of recipients with co-occurring Substance Abuse Disorder.
  • Assessing all medical emergencies, including substance abuse problems.
  • Assuring safe handling and administration of medications.
  • Creating documentation procedures and forms that assure medications will be used as prescribed.
  • Training staff in using proper administration and documentation procedures.
  • Observing staff for competency in administering medications and other health related procedures.
  • Educating staff regarding medications, side-effects, and drug interactions.
  • Educating clients regarding their specific medications, side-effects, and drug interactions.
  • Training staff in first aid techniques and response to medical emergencies.
  • Providing on-going consultation and advice to staff and clients.
  • Ordering medications as needed.
  • Supervising destruction of medications.
  • Maintaining open and honest communication with the Program Director and Treatment Supervisor and other staff promoting the concept of teamwork and support.
  • Informing Program Director and Treatment Supervisor of all significant happenings.
  • Communicating client and program needs to Program Director and Treatment Supervisor and other staff via timely written and verbal communication.
  • Promptly responding to client and staff emergencies in a supportive manner.
  • Attending weekly team meetings.
  • Monitoring medication administration programs with assistance of medical staff (i.e. RN, LPN, etc.).
