About The Position

Urgent Care - Registered Nurse (Flexible Schedule) at New Bedford Community Health (NBCH). NBCH provides high-quality care to diverse patients, offering services including primary & urgent care, women’s health, pediatrics, adult medicine, behavioral health, and dental care. This role offers a work/life balance with no nights, only one Saturday a month, and every Sunday off. The organization is closed when travel conditions are deemed too dangerous for staff & patients, reducing childcare issues when schools are cancelled. Requirements

Current MA RN license or completion of a formal education program in practical nursing.
Current state licensure/BLS Certified (with AED). Responsible for keeping certification current.
1-3 years experience performed in a physician's office or community health setting.
Minimum one year MED/SURG experience desirable.
Bilingual Spanish and/or Portuguese skills preferred.
IV experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Administer immunizations/treatments.
Perform diagnostic tests: EKGs, Holter Monitors, hearing/vision tests and CLIA waived testing.
Order and stock immunizations; confirm expiration dates and dispose of expired stock.
Assist in initiating referrals and utilizing available resources within and outside the facility.
Assist providers with developing short and long-term goals, and involve the patient and family in care plans.
Contribute to the orientation of new nurses and provide direction for medical assistants.
Document in the electronic health record, prepare test results, and document in patient encounter forms.
Prioritize patient phone calls and determine the need for immediate medical care.
Assist with procedures and process refills.
Develop nursing assessments based on data.
Evaluate data in making interpretations.
Differentiate nursing situations that require priority.
Recognize learning needs of patients, coordinate teaching plans, and provide individual/group education.
Defend and preserve the rights of patients.
