About The Position

Urgent Care - Registered Nurse (Flexible Schedule) at New Bedford Community Health (NBCH). NBCH provides high-quality care to diverse patients, offering services including primary & urgent care, women’s health, pediatrics, adult medicine, behavioral health, and dental care. This role offers a work/life balance with no nights, only one Saturday a month, and every Sunday off. The organization is closed when travel conditions are deemed too dangerous for staff & patients, reducing childcare issues when schools are cancelled. Requirements

  • Current MA RN license or completion of a formal education program in practical nursing.
  • Current state licensure/BLS Certified (with AED). Responsible for keeping certification current.
  • 1-3 years experience performed in a physician's office or community health setting.
  • Minimum one year MED/SURG experience desirable.
  • Bilingual Spanish and/or Portuguese skills preferred.
  • IV experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administer immunizations/treatments.
  • Perform diagnostic tests: EKGs, Holter Monitors, hearing/vision tests and CLIA waived testing.
  • Order and stock immunizations; confirm expiration dates and dispose of expired stock.
  • Assist in initiating referrals and utilizing available resources within and outside the facility.
  • Assist providers with developing short and long-term goals, and involve the patient and family in care plans.
  • Contribute to the orientation of new nurses and provide direction for medical assistants.
  • Document in the electronic health record, prepare test results, and document in patient encounter forms.
  • Prioritize patient phone calls and determine the need for immediate medical care.
  • Assist with procedures and process refills.
  • Develop nursing assessments based on data.
  • Evaluate data in making interpretations.
  • Differentiate nursing situations that require priority.
  • Recognize learning needs of patients, coordinate teaching plans, and provide individual/group education.
  • Defend and preserve the rights of patients.
