About The Position

The Staff Nurse Inpatient is a clinically competent registered professional nurse who provides nursing care to acutely ill patients through assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. The nurse prescribes, delegates, and coordinates care; interacts effectively with patients, significant others, and other health team members; and maintains ANA standards of professional nursing practice. The role reflects Northwestern Medicine’s mission, vision, and values and follows its Code of Ethics, compliance program, policies, procedures, guidelines, and applicable regulatory and accreditation standards. Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), or an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with a commitment to obtain a BSN from an accredited program within three years of the first day of employment in a clinical nurse role.
Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license.
Basic Life Support.

Responsibilities

Collect and analyze patient data; identify expected outcomes; develop and implement individualized plans; coordinate care delivery; and evaluate progress toward outcomes.
Direct care and determine the appropriate utilization of assistants involved in direct patient care.
Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, and ancillary staff.
Create and document outcome-focused plans and care-delivery decisions, including communications with patients, families, and others.
Participate in shared governance, committee work, and unit projects.
Evaluate and document patient responses to nursing interventions in the health record, and individualize the plan of care based on evaluation findings.
Use the best available evidence, including research findings, to guide practice decisions.
